Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Saturday visited the pupils and teachers rescued from captivity in Oriire Local Government Area at the Military Hospital in Ibadan, where they are receiving medical attention and rehabilitation.
The governor met with the victims, who spent more than 50 days in the custody of their abductors after they were kidnapped on May 15, 2026, while also interacting with medical personnel overseeing their treatment.
The visit comes a day after the Federal Government confirmed the successful rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers during a coordinated security operation.
Announcing the development on Friday, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said security agencies secured the release of all the victims after weeks of intelligence-led operations.
Makinde had earlier stated that his administration’s immediate priority was to reunite the rescued victims with their families and ensure they receive the necessary medical and psychological support to recover from their ordeal.
