Makinde’s chief of staff resigns

The Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Segun Ogunwuyi, has resigned from the state government.

Ogunwuyi announced his resignation in a letter dated October 12, 2026, stating that his departure took effect immediately.

His resignation comes amid a wave of departures by several aides of Makinde from the state government over the past two months.

In the letter addressed to the governor, Ogunwuyi described his time in government as an honour and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve Oyo State.

“I respectfully write to resign my appointment as Chief of Staff to the Governor of Oyo State, with effect from today, 12th October, 2026,” he wrote.

He said he was proud to have contributed to the administration’s efforts to promote the growth and development of the state.

“Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour. It has been deeply fulfilling to be part of the exceptional team that has worked relentlessly to deliver the remarkable achievements of this administration,” he stated.

Ogunwuyi added that he remained confident in the state’s continued progress despite his decision to leave office.

“As I take this decision, I do so with profound gratitude for the opportunity to serve, with confidence in the continued progress of Oyo State,” he said.

He concluded the letter by reaffirming his loyalty to the state and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Ogunwuyi previously served as a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives before his appointment as chief of staff to Makinde.
