A 30-year-old man, identified as Mutawakilu Ibrahim, has been arrested in Kano for allegedly stabbing his grandparents, Muhammad Dansokoto, 75, and Hadiza Tasidi, 65, to death during a quarrel over food.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the incident, stating that Ibrahim attacked the couple with a knife on Thursday morning at Kofar Dawanau Quarters.
He was said to have been under the influence of intoxicants at the time.
The victims were rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, where doctors confirmed them dead.
Their remains have since been released to relatives for burial according to Islamic rites.
Police Commissioner, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Homicide Section, for further investigation.
He assured that the suspect would be prosecuted once investigations are concluded.
