The operatives of the Gombe State Police Command have arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl at Pindiga in Akko Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, ASP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed this while parading the suspect and others in Gombe on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.
Abdullahi said the suspect (name withheld) lured the girl to his sitting room where he allegedly committed the crime.
Abdullahi stated that the victim was taken to the hospital for medical treatment where the doctor also confirmed that she had been raped.
He said the matter was reported at Pingiga police station at about 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, December 15.

The police spokesman said: “However, upon receipt of the complaint the suspect was arrested.
“The victim was rushed to cottage hospital for medical treatment and doctor’s confirmation.”
Abdullahi stated that during the course of an investigation, the suspect confessed to the alleged crime, adding that he would be charged to court for prosecution.
Abdullahi disclosed that 15 other suspects were paraded for various crimes ranging from criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, and possession of counterfeit naira notes, among others.
