The Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos State, has sentenced one Sunday Oyedele to life imprisonment for defiling three-year-old neighbour (name withheld).
Oyedele was sentenced by Justice Abiola Soladoye on Tuesday on one-count charge of defilement.
The prosecution team, Olusola Soneye, Arinola Momoh-Ayokanbi, and Olufunke Adegoke, told the court that the defendant committed the offence at the Itamaga area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, in November 2017.
Ruling, Justice Soladoye, who described Oyedele as a “sexual monster”, said the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.
The Judge said: “The defilement saga is unfortunate, the defendant is a sexual monster, a paedophile who should be locked away.
“The charge against the defendant has been proven beyond reasonable doubt.
“The defendant having been found guilty is sentenced to life imprisonment with no option of fine.
“He is also to have his name registered in the Sex Offenders Register as maintained by the Lagos State Government.”
The Star reports that during the trial of Oyedele, four witnesses including a medical doctor from the Mirabel Centre (a Sexual Assault Referral Centre), Dr. Oyedeji Alagbe, testified for the prosecution.
Alagbe told the court that the medical examinations revealed that the three-year-old girl was defiled.
