Man beheads girlfriend in Bayelsa

A middle-aged man identified simply as Tony has allegedly beheaded his girlfriend, Ebibraaladei Maxwell, at Kabeama coastal settlement in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

It was gathered that the incident involved the unmarried, but live-in couple.

They cohabited and had a child.

The lovers’ neighbours disclosed that the incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, February 3, 2024, with the severed head of the victim discovered in the morning.

It was learnt that the residents later apprehended Tony as he attempted to flee the scene and handed him over to the police.

Confirming the incident on Monday, the Bayelsa State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Musa Mohammed, said the man is in custody and undergoing interrogation.

It was further gathered that policemen from Sagbama Division evacuated the lifeless body of the victim and deposited it at the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.
