Man dies while rescuing goat from Oyo well

A 45-year-old man has died while trying to rescue his goat from a deep well in the Mokola area, Saki community in Oyo State.

The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service Agency, Moroof Akinwande, made this known in a statement issued on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.

Akinwande disclosed that the incident occurred at approximately 10 p.m. on Monday, February 2.

Police arrest 26 for desertification in Yobe

Akinwande stated that the incident happened when the man entered the well with aim of rescuing a goat which fell inside the well and was trapped.

The chairman, who sympathised with the family of the deceased, urged members of the public to desist from entering wells because of the danger associated with it, noting that it could lead to injuries or deaths.
