A 43-year-old man, identified as Kazeem from the Edun area of Ilorin, Kwara State, drowned after allegedly consuming a hard drug known as “Colo” (Colorado) and jumping into a well on Friday, shortly after attending Eid prayers.
Eyewitnesses said the incident happened at Alapo Compound in Edun, where Kazeem, under the influence of the substance, reportedly leapt into a domestic well.
The Kwara State Fire Service was alerted at about 10:29 a.m. and promptly dispatched a rescue team to the scene. Spokesman of the service, Hassan Adekunle, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Saturday.
“Our firefighters responded swiftly and recovered the lifeless body of the victim from the well,” Adekunle said.
He added that Kazeem was believed to have taken “Colo” shortly before the tragic incident.
