A Lugbe Grade 1 Area Court in Abuja, on Thursday, September 21, 2023, sentenced a 23-year-old man, Wisdom Daniel, to nine months imprisonment for stealing an iPhone X worth N250,000.
Daniel, a resident of Sauka Kahuta, Lugbe, had pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of mischief and stealing.
He also begged the court for leniency.
The prosecutor, Stanley Nwaforaku, told the court that the complainant, Godwin Osaghale, in the Lugbe area of Abuja reported the case at the Lugbe Police Station on September 3.

Nwaforaku said the convict, on September 3, made away with the complainant’s iPhone X but was caught while attempting to restart the phone.
He added Daniel locked and damaged the phone’s screen which would cost N48,000 to repair.
Nwaforaku said the offences contravened Sections 327 and 288 of the Penal Code.
The presiding judge, Aliyu Kagarko, however, sentenced Daniel to nine months imprisonment with an option of N25,000 fine.
Kagarko, who warned Daniel to avoid crime, said the punishment would have been stiffer if the convict had not saved the court the rigour of a protracted trial.
