A resident identified as Ladan Zubairu has been allegedly killed by a man at Yusuf Garko Mosque in the Maraba area of Kano State.
The Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, confirmed the incident via a statement issued on Monday, December 15, 2025.
Kiyawa quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the suspect was pursued by an angry mob and lynched.
Kiyawa disclosed that the mob also set the suspect’s residence ablaze, adding that normalcy had been restored in the area, with security personnel deployed to maintain law and order.

The police spokesperson stated that investigators recovered the victim’s throat from the suspect’s pocket, adding that both bodies were taken to Mohammed Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital in Kano, where they were confirmed dead and await autopsy.
He quoted the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, as ordering a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Bakori appealed to the residents of the state to remain calm and cooperate with law‑enforcement agencies as the investigation continues.
