Man sets self, wife, children ablaze in Abia

A man, Udochi Amala, has set himself, his wife, and their three children ablaze in Onicha Ngwa, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.

It was gathered that the incident occurred at about 2 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025.

The 40-year-old man was said to have set himself, his wife, and their three children on fire over alleged infidelity by his wife.

It was learnt that Amala attempted to flee after the incident but was apprehended.

One of his daughters died as a result of severe burns.

The Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, confirmed the incident on Tuesday, May 20.

“The police are aware. Investigation is ongoing,” the police spokesperson said.
