Several residents have been killed after gunmen attacked Angwan Rukuba in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

It was gathered that the attack occurred at about 8 p.m. on Sunday at a popular bar in the community, where victims were said to have come under sporadic gunfire from gunmen suspected to be cultists.

It was learnt that 12 people were killed in the incident, while several others sustained injuries.

Following the attack, the Plateau State Government imposed a 48-hour curfew in Jos North Local Government Area.

Police begin probe as gunmen kill woman in Rivers

The Plateau State Commissioner for Information, Joyce Ramnap, in a statement, said curfew will take effect from midnight of March 29 to April 1, 2026.

The commissioner added that the government, under the leadership of Governor Caleb Mutfwang, strongly condemned the attack and assured residents that security agencies were working to apprehend those responsible.

She urged residents to remain calm, stay vigilant, and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information to aid investigations.
