Mentally unstable boy stabs NSCDC officer to death

A mentally unstable boy has stabbed a personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to death in Akure, the capital of Ondo State.

The incident occurred at Oke-Ala in Oba-Ile, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

An eyewitness told newsmen that the incident occurred when the mother of the boy invited the NSCDC personnel to assist in chaining the boy to restrain him from being a nuisance in society.

The eyewitness, who said the boy had been mentally unstable for years, said he removed a knife from the officer and stabbed him severally.

The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, confirmed the incident on Thursday, November 20, 2025.

Ayanlade, who said the NSCDC officer died while receiving treatment in the hospital, explained that he died as a result of the injury sustained while trying to chain the boy.

“The NSCDC officer died while receiving treatment at the hospital,” the police spokesperson said.

The NSCDC’s Head of Public Relations Office in Ondo State, Daniel Aidamenbor, also confirmed the incident.
