Nigerian military aircraft operating under Operation Hadin Kai have killed more than 30 Islamic State West Africa Province fighters in a series of precision airstrikes targeting terrorist logistics operations along the Lake Chad axis of Borno State.
The strikes were launched following intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance inputs that detected significant ISWAP activity involving logistics movement through waterways around the Kaniram Island axis.
An ISR platform deployed to the area confirmed the presence of approximately 31 boats dispersed along the riverbank, with human activity consistent with ISWAP fighters. Upon positive identification, the Air Component initiated strike operations in line with established rules of engagement and targeting protocols.
The first strike disrupted the terrorist hub and degraded their logistics capability, damaging several boats used for movement and supply across the waterways.
Subsequent ISR monitoring detected attempts by surviving fighters to regroup within nearby vegetation, prompting follow-on strikes. A second precision strike targeted a cluster of about eight terrorists, neutralising them, while additional elements were observed withdrawing into concealed positions.
