The Armed Forces of Nigeria have intensified nationwide operations, killing scores of terrorists, rescuing 67 kidnapped victims, and arresting 94 suspects within two weeks.
Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Olatokunbo Bello, announced this on Friday in Abuja while briefing journalists on military operations carried out between November 3 and 14.
Bello said troops recovered large quantities of arms and ammunition, including automatic rifles, machine guns, RPG tubes, locally fabricated weapons and IED-making materials, and also destroyed several terrorist camps and logistics bases.
He said troops of Operation Hadin Kai in Borno and Adamawa States neutralised several Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters, arrested 45 terrorist informants, collaborators and logistics suppliers, and rescued one kidnapped victim.
In the North West, troops of Operation Fansan Yamma killed terrorists across Sokoto, Zamfara, Niger, Katsina, Kebbi, and Kano States, arrested two suspects, and rescued 13 kidnapped victims, while also recovering weapons, vehicles, and livestock.
Bello added that troops of Operation Enduring Peace in Plateau and Kaduna States killed extremists, arrested 16 suspects, and rescued five kidnapped victims.
A notorious criminal, Ibrahim Wakili, was arrested on November 9 in Sanga LGA of Kaduna State.
He further stated that troops of Operation Whirl Stroke recorded successes in Kogi, Kwara, Benue, Nasarawa, and Taraba States, killing several criminals, arresting 10 suspects, and rescuing 48 kidnapped victims.
Two gunrunners and two extremist collaborators were also arrested in Nasarawa State.
