Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have uncovered an underground Boko Haram logistics storage facility containing medical supplies, fuel and other critical materials in the Timbuktu Triangle area of Borno State.
The discovery followed coordinated, intelligence-led operations conducted on Sunday in Chilaria, Garin Faruk and Abirma, where troops overran several terrorist enclaves and repelled multiple drone attacks launched by insurgents.
The Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force North-East, Operation Hadin Kai, Lt. Col. Uba Sani, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday.
According to him, the operations, carried out under Operation Desert Sanity, led to the destruction of multiple Boko Haram and ISWAP camps, significantly degrading the groups’ operational and logistical capabilities.
He said troops advanced from their harbour locations to conduct deliberate clearance operations against identified terrorist positions, with support from the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, which provided continuous intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.
“The effective air-ground coordination enabled real-time tracking of terrorist movements, prevented reinforcement and enhanced the precision of ground operations,” Sani said.
During the raids, troops recovered items including Baofeng radios, mobile phones, five AK-47 magazines, rounds of 7.62×39mm special ammunition and 7.62mm NATO belted ammunition, Boko Haram and ISWAP flags, links of 12.7×108mm ammunition, diesel-powered grinding machines, large quantities of medical supplies, bags of grains, a pick-up truck, as well as an underground fuel and lubricant dump.
Sani disclosed that the troops came under armed drone attacks around midday, with another attempted attack later in the evening. Both attacks were successfully repelled, forcing the terrorists to withdraw.
He added that troop morale remains high despite sustained engagements, noting that the security situation in the area is calm but volatile, with forces remaining on high alert.
The military high command, he said, has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the offensive until terrorist threats are eliminated and lasting peace restored in the North-East.
