MTN appoints Obiageli Ugboma as Chief Risk, Compliance Officer

MTN Nigeria Communications has appointed Ms. Obiageli Ugboma as its Chief Risk and Compliance Officer.

The appointment takes effect from November 7, 2022.

Ugboma succeeds Mr. Cyril Ilok who resigned in April 2022.

Ugboma, according to a statement notifying the Nigerian Exchange Limited on Thursday, is a risk executive and business leader with over 20 years experience in leading financial institutions in the United Kingdom and Nigeria.

She joins MTN Nigeria from FSDH Holding Company Limited where she played a key role in the evaluation and execution of corporate, business and operational strategy as the Group’s Chief Risk Officer.

Before then, she served as Chief Risk Officer and Managing Director, Risk and Compliance of Chapel Hill Denham, Nigeria from 2011 to 2021.

Also, she had worked at JP Morgan as Executive Director and Head of EMEA Operational Risk at Financial Services Authority now FCA) and HSBC Bank Plc.

Ugboma holds a BSc (Hon) in Biotechnology from Imperial College, London in 1998, and a BSc (Hons) in Financial Services from Alliance Manchester Business School in 2002.

She is a certified Financial Risk Manager, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Banker (FCIB) and a Chartered Stockbroker (ACS).
