Former President Muhammadu Buhari is dead.
He died at about 4:30p.m., Sunday, July 13 in London, following a prolonged illness.
His spokesman, Garba Shehu, announced this afternoon.
“INNA LILLAHI WA INNA ILAIHIRRAJIUUN.
“The family of the former president has announced the passing on of the former president, Muhammadu Buhari, this afternoon in a clinic in London.
“May Allah accept him in Aljannatul Firdaus, Amin.”
Buhari left office on May 29, 2023. He was twice elected Nigeria’s President in 2015 and 2019.
He also served as military head of state between January 1984 and August 1985.
He handed over to President Bola Tinubu.
The former president recently fell ill and was taken to England to seek treatment with his doctors.
He was still undergoing medical treatment when he gave up the ghost on Sunday.
President Tinubu has ordered flags at half-staff as a mark of respect for the departed leader.
