MultiChoice increases DStv, GOtv subscription prices by 20%

Nigeria’s pay television, MultiChoice Nigeria, has increased subscription charges on DStv and GOtv Packages by over 20 per cent.

The price increment takes effect from May 1, 2024.

The Chief Executive Officer of the company, John Ugbe, made the announcement on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 in a letter to customers.

In the DSTV package, the Premium that subscribers presently pay N29,500 monthly is now N37,000 while the Compact Plus that initially cost N19,800 will be available for N25,000.

The Compact package on which subscribers pay N12,500 will henceforth go for N15,700 while those on Confam Package will cough out N9,300 instead of N7,400.

Those on Yanga package will now pay N5,100 monthly as against N4,200 while Padi package go for N3,600 monthly against the initial N3,600.

For those on GOtv Package, the Supa+ now cost N15,700 monthly as against N12,500 while those on Supa pay N9,600 monthly against the initial price of N7,600.

For the subscribers of Max, they will pay N7,200 monthly as against N5,700 while those on Jolli Package will now N4,850 monthly against NN3,950.

Also, those using Jinja will pay N3,300 monthly against N2,700 while Smallie subscribers pay N1,575 against N1,300.

MultiChoice hinged the price increment on the rise in the cost of business operations.

In the letter to the customers, Ugbe said: “On Wednesday, 1 May 2024 we will adjust our prices across all our packages on DStv and GOtv.

“We understand the impact this change may have on you – our valued customer, but the rise in the cost of business operations, has led us to make this difficult decision.

“It remains our mission to provide the best entertainment and viewing experience to you and are committed to continue to deliver high-quality content and unparalleled service.

“So, from Wednesday, 1 May 2024, the price adjustment will take effect as follows:
