A Magistrates’ Court sitting in the Ebute-Meta area of Lagos State has remanded a 55-year-old National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) leader, Samsideen Oladiti, popularly known as “Shameleon”.
Shameleon was accused of beating a tricyclist to death in Lagos.
Magistrate A. O. Akinde, on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, ordered that the NURTW leader be remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Facility pending further advice.
Akinde, who directed that the case file be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice, adjourned the matter until October 28.
Shameleon is facing a three-count charge bordering on assault and murder. The charges were read before the court, but his plea was not taken.

Earlier, the prosecutor, SP Anthony Iyeye, said the defendant committed the offences at about 10 a.m. at Lewis Street, Lagos Island, on August 27.
Iyeye said Shameleon assaulted a tricyclist, Imam Ramon, causing injuries that later led to his death at the Lagos Island General Hospital, Marina.
He told the court that on September 17, the defendant also attacked a dispatch rider, Omale Samuel, inflicting serious bodily harm.
The prosecutor said Samuel was taken to the hospital, where he remains on admission.
Iyeye added that the defendant’s actions showed a pattern of violence against innocent citizens.
Iyeye said the offences contravened Section 223 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015, which prescribes the death penalty for murder upon conviction.
