Murder in Kano school: Outrage as Nigerians demand justice for Hanifa

Aggrieved Nigerians have taken to the microblogging platform, Twitter, to express displeasure and called for justice over the gruesome murder of Hanifa Abubakar, a five-year-old pupil who was killed by Abdulmalik Tanko, the proprietor of Noble Kids Academy at Kwanar Dakata in the Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

The Star had earlier reported that the proprietor of the school had narrated how he killed the pupil with N100 rat poison and buried her remains in the school premises.

Tanko, who confessed to have killed the five-year-old pupil after he kidnapped her last year, revealed during his parade at the Police Command headquarters in Kano on Friday that he killed Hanifa with rat poison after he realised that the victim recognized him.

This is just as the Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Kiyawa, on Friday stated: “On investigation, Abdulmalik confessed that the victim, Hanifa, was his student at a private school in Kwanar Dakata, Nassarawa LGA, Kano State. He kidnapped her and took her to his house where he contacted her relatives and demanded a ransom of N6 million.

“On the 18/12/2021, having realised that the victim recognized him, he claimed to have poisoned her to death, conspired with one Hashim Isyaku and buried her in a shallow grave within the private school premises located at Kwanar ‘Yan Gana, Tudun Murtala Quarters, Nassarawa LGA, Kano State,” the police spokesperson disclosed.

Reacting to the tragic incident, aggrieved Nigerians, who could not hold their grievances, took to Twitter on Friday with the hastag, #JusticeForHanifa, and called on appropriate authorities to ensure justice is served over the murder of the five-year-old pupil.
