Tragedy struck Chatta village in Hawul Local Government Area of Borno State as residents were left in shock over the sudden and mysterious death of a family of four.
The deceased have been identified as Yakubu Samanja, his wife Esther Yakubu, and their two children, Amos and Maryamu.
Their lifeless bodies were discovered early Tuesday morning by a relative, Ibrahim Samanja, who visited the house after noticing unusual silence around the compound.
“I knocked several times without getting a response.
“When no one answered, I forced the door open and found them all dead inside the room,” he said.
Police officers and medical personnel who arrived at the scene confirmed the deaths and evacuated the bodies to the General Hospital in Marama for autopsy and further investigation.
Residents said the family appeared healthy and showed no signs of distress prior to their death, describing the incident as deeply disturbing.
While no visible injuries were found, initial suspicions point to possible poisoning or carbon monoxide inhalation, possibly from a generator.
Authorities have launched a full investigation to determine the exact cause of death.
