The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public alert warning healthcare providers and the general public about the circulation of counterfeit Dermazin (1% Silver Sulphadiazine) Cream.
According to the agency, Taylek Drugs Company Limited, the legitimate manufacturer, reported that some products falsely claiming to be Dermazin Cream were being sold in the market. The counterfeit packaging misrepresents the cream as being produced by Taylek Drugs Company.
NAFDAC highlighted that the illegal sale of falsified medicines poses serious health risks, as such products do not guarantee safety, quality, or efficacy, and violate regulatory standards.
The agency has urged healthcare professionals and consumers to be vigilant and report any suspicious or substandard medicines or medical devices. NAFDAC continues to advise the public to verify the authenticity of all medicinal products before use to avoid potential health risks.
