The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has placed Nigerian entertainer Darlington Okoye, known as Speed Darlington, on an international watchlist and engaged INTERPOL following allegations of unlawful conduct involving a minor.
The move comes after a viral video surfaced in which the singer allegedly admitted to inappropriate relations with a 15-year-old girl.NAPTIP reported that Speed Darlington repeatedly ignored summons to appear before the agency, leading to collaboration with the Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Police, Department of State Services (DSS), and INTERPOL to apprehend him.
“We’ve notified all relevant authorities to act if he is sighted,” said Vincent Adekoye, NAPTIP’s Chief Press Officer. “He’s had ample opportunity to comply.”
Adekoye described the singer as a “dangerous individual,” citing his alleged confessions to assaulting minors, including a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old, as recently as June 30, 2025.
NAPTIP urged any country where he may be located to detain and hand him over for investigation.In response, Speed Darlington released a video denying the allegations, stating, “I’m not coming.
“I haven’t committed any crime. All I did was talk irresponsibly, which isn’t a crime.” He challenged NAPTIP’s evidence, questioning the complainant’s identity and accusing the agency of seeking publicity.
The singer demanded ₦2.5 million plus travel expenses for any appearance, claiming the summons was an attempt to boost NAPTIP’s image
.NAPTIP declared him wanted on June 27, 2025, for alleged offenses including rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking, citing his failure to honor invitations following the controversial livestream.
The agency warned that his actions could violate the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015, and the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.Speed Darlington dismissed the accusations as a publicity stunt, stating, “All I did was try to trend.
You have no case.” He also threatened to sue NAPTIP for defamation, claiming the allegations have damaged his reputation without evidence.
