The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is set to hold its presidential, National Assembly, governorship, and state assembly primaries nationwide today.
The party’s presidential candidate from the last general election and sole aspirant for the ticket, Peter Obi, is expected to be officially confirmed through a nationwide affirmation by delegates across the states.
According to a joint statement issued by the National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas, and the National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Alex-Morgan Enekweizu, the exercise was rescheduled to today due to the Eid-el-Kabir holidays, which affected logistics and transportation arrangements.
The party explained that while the presidential primary will be conducted through affirmation, other positions—including National Assembly, governorship, and state assembly tickets—will involve a mix of direct primaries and affirmation processes.
It added that results from all states will be collated and transmitted to the party’s national secretariat, where the National Working Committee will announce the final outcomes.
The statement also warned that no state executive or parallel committee is authorised to declare results.
Meanwhile, most aspirants for Senate and House of Representatives seats are also expected to emerge through delegate affirmation across various states as the party concludes its primary process.
