The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has recorded major successes in its ongoing nationwide anti-drug operations, arresting several suspects and recovering large consignments of illicit substances across multiple states.
In Oyo State, two women—Rebecca King, 24, and Olaniyan Opeyemi, 31—were arrested in connection with the seizure of 1.925kg of Colorado, a synthetic cannabis.
While one was intercepted along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, the other was arrested in Ibadan while attempting to receive the consignment.
In a separate operation in Ibadan, NDLEA operatives arrested a wanted drug dealer, Taofik Adeyemi, alongside his associate, recovering over 3kg of skunk and a vehicle.
The suspect had reportedly evaded arrest for months.
In Kaduna State, officers intercepted 290kg of compressed skunk concealed in a vehicle along the Abuja-Jos highway, while in Jigawa State, nearly 50,000 capsules of tramadol were seized from two suspects.
Further operations in Borno State led to the arrest of suspects with over 90,000 tramadol pills, while in Lagos State, a raid at Awolowo Market in Mushin yielded 740kg of skunk.
Additional arrests and seizures were recorded in Osun and Edo states, where various quantities of cannabis, methamphetamine and other illicit substances were recovered.
Beyond enforcement, the agency also intensified its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation campaigns across schools, communities and workplaces nationwide.
NDLEA Chairman, Mohamed Buba Marwa, praised officers for their efforts, urging them to maintain the current tempo in combating drug abuse and trafficking across the country.
