NDLEA cracks down on drug peddlers in Jigawa

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Jigawa State has issued a strong warning to drug peddlers and users, as the agency ramps up patrols across the state during the Christmas season.

The move coincides with celebrations by Christian faithful across Jigawa and worldwide.

The NDLEA urged residents to avoid drug abuse under the guise of festivities, stressing that anyone caught during the intensified operations would face the full force of the law.

The NDLEA Jigawa Public Relations Officer, CSN Abdullahi Wada, outlined the agency’s proactive strategy for the festive period.

Under the leadership of State Commander CN Hassan K. Kabaju, Wada said the command is fully prepared to tackle drug and substance abuse during and beyond the Christmas season.

He added, “We have strengthened collaboration with other security agencies, including the police, and intensified surveillance at borders and known hotspots.”

The NDLEA spokesperson noted that patrols have been increased throughout communities to deter both drug peddlers and users.

“Our operations aim to make Jigawa State a safe and healthy environment for all during and beyond the festive period,” Wada said.

He also called on citizens to play an active role by reporting suspicious activities promptly, emphasizing that the agency is determined to ensure a drug-free Christmas.

Wada further highlighted that traffickers often exploit holiday periods, and the NDLEA is intensifying border surveillance to prevent such activities.

“The public can expect increased monitoring and swift action based on intelligence,” he said.

He concluded with a caution to residents: “Celebrate responsibly, avoid harmful substances, and be aware that the consequences of getting caught will be severe.”
