NDLEA cracks down on drug traffickers, intercepts explosive

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intensified its operations across Nigeria, arresting dozens of suspects and seizing massive quantities of illicit drugs and explosives in recent raids.

In the past week, NDLEA recovered over 30,003 pills of tramadol, molly, and other opioids, 1,848 kilograms of cannabis, 30.09 kilograms of heroin, and 140 packets of explosives across Borno, Lagos, Kwara, Edo, Kano, Kaduna, Ekiti, Ondo, and FCT, among others. Notable arrests include a 30-year-old Brazilian woman at Abuja airport, a 72-year-old man in Ekiti, and several village heads in Edo State.

Operations included intelligence-led interceptions at airports, highways, seaports, and local communities. For instance, NDLEA operatives seized heroin hidden in coffee packs in Abuja, cannabis on a wooden boat at Lekki, and large consignments of tramadol and diazepam in Yobe and Niger States.

Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) lauded the nationwide team for maintaining high standards of professionalism and urged continued vigilance to disrupt drug supply chains and prevent abuse.

NDLEA also continued its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization programs, engaging schools, workplaces, and communities nationwide to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.
