The Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has destroyed two cannabis farms in a recent operation aimed at disrupting the supply chain of illegal drugs in the state.
Speaking in Benin City during a press briefing on the command’s May achievements, State Commander Mitchell Ofoyeju revealed that the farms were located in the Uzebba and Ohosu forests, spanning Owan West and Ovia South East Local Government Areas.
The farms covered a combined area of 0.782961 hectares, with 0.265874 hectares cleared in Uzebba and 0.517087 hectares in Ohosu.

Commander Ofoyeju explained that the destruction of the farms is part of the agency’s strategy to tackle drug abuse at its source. “If there are no harvests, traffickers won’t have access to the products,” he said.
He emphasized that the fight against drug cultivation and trafficking is essential to protecting local economies, attracting investment, and reducing the burden on law enforcement and healthcare systems.
As part of its broader campaign, the NDLEA is also taking its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) initiative to schools, churches, and mosques, targeting young adults and adolescents with education and awareness programs.
