The operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted 117 grams of ketamine concealed in a pair of leather male slippers being shipped to Indonesia in Lagos State.
The NDLEA officers attached to courier firms in Lagos also intercepted 2.14 kilograms of skunk going to the United Kingdom and hidden in the walls of a local wooden drum.
The NDLEA Director, Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, made the disclosure in a statement on Sunday, August 27, 2023.
Babafemi added that the operatives of the anti-drug agency, on Tuesday, August 22, recovered 60,000 pills of tramadol from a 25-year-old suspect, Ibrahim Abba, who was travelling in a commercial Toyota Starlet car from Kalaa village to Mubi, Adamawa State.
He stated that the NDLEA officers also intercepted two consignments of skunk with a gross weight of 1, 242.1 kilograms in Abuja.

The NDLEA spokesperson said: “The first consignment of 665.1kgs was seized from a truck around Area 3 on Sunday 20th August while the second one weighing 577kgs was recovered during a stop and search operation along Lokoja- Abaji expressway same day.
“The consignment was concealed in Jumia goods delivery packs inside a container Mercedes truck, whose driver, Yusuf Yakubu Asokomhe, and his assistant, Tunde Ogundare, were arrested.”
Babafemi noted that the anti-narcotics officers, on Thursday, August 24, stormed the Uzebba forest in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State, where they arrested a 33-year-old suspect, Esazobor Ohioze, with 54.3kgs cannabis recovered from a hut while a total of 2.995696 hectares of cannabis farms were destroyed.
He said the NDLEA officers on patrol along Darazo road in Gombe State, on Monday, August 21, recovered an abandoned Volkswagen Sharon vehicle marked GME 76 XD containing a total of 373,420 pills of opioids including tramadol and diazepam.
Reacting, the NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), commended the anti-narcotics officers for a job well done and charged them and their colleagues across the country to intensify their drug supply reduction operations.
Marwa enjoined the NDLEA officers to balance that with drug demand reduction activities.
