NDLEA nabs Iran-bound woman hiding cocaine in private part

The operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a woman, Ihensekhien Miracle Obehi, for allegedly attempting to smuggle a large consignment of cocaine to Iran.

The woman was apprehended at the Port Harcourt International Airport in Rivers State.

The NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, disclosed this via a statement issued on Sunday, May 11, 2025.

Babafemi stated that Obehi had disguised in a hijab in a bid to evade security checks.

Babafemi said the suspect was intercepted at the departure hall of the Port Harcourt airport while attempting to board a Qatar Airways flight to Iran via Doha on May 3.

He noted that a search revealed that the woman concealed three wraps of cocaine in her private part, adding that two additional large parcels of the drug were discovered hidden in false compartments of her handbag.

The NDLEA spokesman said: “As she had swallowed 67 pellets of cocaine, she was placed under excretion observation, and after four excretions over several days, she expelled 67 wraps of the substance.

“She claimed she was meant to swallow 70 pellets but could only ingest 67. She then inserted the remaining three in her private part.”

Babafemi revealed that the total weight of the cocaine recovered from Obehi’s body amounted to 2.523 kilograms.

He added that NDLEA operatives at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in the Ikeja area of Lagos State arrested a 22-year-old British national, Campell Kaizra Kofi Johannes Slifer, on Friday, May 9.

Babafemi said the Briton, who arrived from Thailand via Doha on a Qatar Airways flight, was found in possession of 35 parcels of Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, weighing 37.6 kilograms.

The NDLEA spokesperson stated that the suspect confessed to previously being convicted twice in the United Kingdom for drug trafficking and robbery.

“He further revealed he was recruited in London to travel to Thailand, pick up the drug consignment, and bring it to Nigeria,” Babafemi disclosed.
