The operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have apprehended a woman, Shodunke Yetunde Simbiat, in her Lagos home, where 23.50 kilograms of cocaine worth over N5 billion were recovered from her children’s room.

The NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, December 21, 2025.

Babafemi stated that Simbiat, who went underground since May 2024, was identified as a key member of a drug trafficking organisation.

Babafemi said the 39-year-old woman was trailed to her home in the Surulere area of Lagos where she was arrested on December 9, 2025.

The NDLEA spokesman noted that a thorough search of the suspect’s home led to the discovery of blocks of cocaine weighing 23.50 kilograms concealed in a black suit case recovered from her children’s room.

“She admitted ownership of the drug consignment worth over N5 billion in street value,” Babafemi added.
