The operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have raided a clandestine factory in the Mubi area of Adamawa State where a new psychoactive substance, Akuskura, was being produced in large quantity and distributed to Chad, Cameroon, and Niger Republic.
The NDLEA Director, Media and Advocacy¸ Femi Babafemi made the disclosure via a statement issued and made available to The Star on Sunday, April 30.
He disclosed that production activities were ongoing in the premises at the time of the raid on Saturday, April 29.
Babafemi said the anti-narcotic operatives also recovered 859 bottles of Codeine based Syrup weighing 117.3kg abandoned by a suspected dealer about two kilometres away from NDLEA checkpoint along Enugu-Otukpo Road on Wednesday, April 26.

The NDLEA spokesman added that two suspects, Kabiru Muhammed and Isah Muhammed, were arrested with 20 blocks of cannabis weighing 11.2kg concealed in a bag of cassava flakes (Garri) along Zaria-Kano road in Kano on Friday, April 28.
He revealed that seven bags of cannabis with a gross weight of 74.5kg were recovered when the NDLEA officers raided an uncompleted building located in a bush in Ala town, Akure, the Ondo State capital, adding that 60kg of the same substance concealed among footwears in two jumbo sacks was recovered from one Aminu Mohammed along the Ibadan-Oyo expressway in Oyo State while waiting to board a vehicle to Kebbi State.
Speaking on the arrests and seizures, the NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), commended the officers of the anti-drug agency for their vigilance and professionalism in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Marwa also charged them and their colleagues across the country not to rest on their oars.
