The operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have recovered 4,959 kilograms of Canadian Loud, a strong strain of cannabis, imported from Toronto, Canada, worth N12,397,500,000 at the Apapa ports complex in Lagos State.
The illicit drug consignment was recovered from the container during a joint examination of the shipment by officers of the NDLEA, Nigeria Customs Service, other security agencies, and ports stakeholders at the Apapa ports complex.
The NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, in a statement issued on Sunday, said the recovery was made on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, after the anti-drug agency tracked and monitored a container laden with 195 big sacks of Canadian Loud for over four weeks.

Babafemi said the illicit drug which was loaded into a 40ft container comprising a Ford and a Nissan vehicle came under NDLEA tracking and monitoring system since April 25 when it arrived Toronto via truck, Montreal via rail on April 29, Tanger Med Morocco on May 11, loaded on another vessel on May 23 before arriving Tincan port in Lagos on June 4, and discharged there on June 5 before the container eventually left Tincan and arrived Apapa port on Monday, June 22, 2026.
Commending the anti-narcotic officers for the arrests and seizures, the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Marwa (rtd), noted their drug supply reduction efforts balanced with War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation activities, just as he enjoined not to rest on their oars.
