The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the 2025 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) results for admissions into Federal Unity Colleges (FUCs) and the Federal Government Academy (FGA).
The examination, held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, was conducted across various centers in Nigeria, as well as in the Benin Republic and Togo.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, announced the release of the results after receiving them from NECO Registrar, Prof. Dantani Wushishi.
According to the minister, 64,578 candidates registered for the NCEE, with 61,290 sitting for the exam and 3,288 recorded as absent. She expressed concern over an unprecedented case of exam malpractice involving 52 candidates—two from Lagos State and 50 from Rivers State.
The examination, designed for Primary 6 pupils seeking admission into Junior Secondary School 1 (JSS1) in the country’s 80 Federal Unity Colleges, is highly competitive and serves as a tool for national integration.
Out of a total possible score of 210, 13 candidates recorded the highest score of 202, while 27 scored the lowest mark of 1.
For the FGA entrance exam, 3,421 candidates registered, 3,141 sat for the test, and 280 were absent. The top score was 194, while the lowest was 1.
The minister reiterated that admissions into Unity Colleges would follow the existing guidelines: 60% on merit, 30% based on state equality, and 10% on exigency. She directed the Senior Secondary Education Department to ensure timely completion of the admission process.
Prof. Ahmad reassured parents of the government’s continued commitment to improving infrastructure, feeding, and teacher quality in the Federal Unity Colleges, which she described as top choices for many Nigerian families.
