The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2026 internal Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).
The NECO Registrar, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, announced the results at the council’s headquarters in Minna, the capital of Niger State, on Thursday, September 24, 2026.
Wushishi disclosed that 1,378,048 candidates, comprising 682,352 male candidates and 695,696 female registered for this 2026 internal SSCE.
Wushishi said 1,371,992, candidates, comprising 678,903 male candidates and 693,089 female, sat for the examination.
He said 804,948 candidates, representing 58.67 per cent got five credits and above including English language and Mathematics, while 1,162,118 candidates, representing 84.70 per cent got five credits, irrespective of English language and Mathematics.

The NECO boss revealed that the council recorded a reduction in the number of candidates involved in examination malpractice from 3,878 in 2025 to 1,406 candidates in 2026.
According to him, 1, 334 candidates with special needs, comprising those with hearing impairment, visual impairment, albinism, autism and low vision, sat for this year’s internal SSCE conducted by the council.
Wushishi added that the results were released 63 days after the conclusion of the examination both within and outside Nigeria.
