Ned Nwoko justifies polygamy, says men with one wife “deserve pity”

Senator Ned Nwoko has defended his belief in polygamy, arguing that men with only one wife deserve sympathy because having multiple wives provides “balance and stability.”

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Sunday, the Delta North lawmaker also addressed allegations of domestic violence recently made against him by his actress wife, Regina Daniels.

When asked how he manages his household with four wives, Nwoko paused briefly before answering with an analogy:

“It’s like standing on one leg — very difficult. But when you stand on two, three, or four, you’re more balanced. That’s how I see it. So, I feel sorry for men with one wife.”

Responding to a question about whether the Bible supports polygamy, he said,

“The Old Testament does. I’m a man of faith. But that’s not what we’re here for.”

Nwoko also stated that he has no regrets about his marital choices, insisting he would make the same decisions again.

“No, I don’t regret anything. That’s the way it should be. A man should marry whoever he wants,” he said.

On allegations of domestic violence, the senator denied them outright, describing himself as a peaceful and loving husband.

“Come on, I’m not a violent person. I respect my wives and love my children,” he maintained.

His comments came shortly after Regina Daniels shared photos and videos of a new mansion on Instagram, captioned:

“In my house, I am a Queen! I needed a roof over my head, so I got this for me and my family.”

Her post followed a viral video from October 18, where she was seen crying outside her Abuja residence, alleging domestic abuse.

“In Ned Nwoko’s house, I am nothing, but in my own house, I am a Queen. I can’t stand the violence anymore,” she said in the clip.

The couple’s six-year marriage — once celebrated for its glamour and controversy due to their wide age gap — has now descended into a public crisis playing out across social media.
