The Niger State Judicial Service Commission (NJSC) has disengaged four judicial officers for repeatedly failing promotion examinations.
Chairman of the Commission’s Sub-committee on Information, Adamu Usman, disclosed this at a press briefing in Minna.
He explained that three officers from the High Court and one from the Sharia Court of Appeal were directed to leave the service after failing promotion exams three times for the same position, in line with Order 8, Rule (4)(f) of the commission’s 2025 regulations.
Usman also announced that the NJSC has set up a four-man committee to investigate allegations of serious misconduct against one Mohammed Shaba, accused of circulating a disparaging video against the Chief Judge of Niger State and the judiciary.
He stressed that the commission is committed to ensuring fair hearing in the matter.
Meanwhile, the commission has recruited 100 new judicial staff, including 10 magistrates, as part of an ongoing expansion approved by Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago.
It also issued retirement notifications to 10 staff—four from the High Court and six from the Sharia Court of Appeal—and confirmed death certificates for two late staff members.
