Nigeria has approved a 30-day visa-free entry policy for citizens of Rwanda in a move aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and promoting regional integration.
The Nigeria Immigration Service announced the development in a statement on Friday, saying all necessary arrangements had been concluded for the implementation of the policy following the directive of President Bola Tinubu.
The decision comes as President Tinubu visits Kigali for the ongoing Africa CEO Forum, where he held talks with Rwandan President Paul Kagame on deepening cooperation between both countries.
According to the NIS, the new policy is a reciprocal gesture following Rwanda’s existing 30-day visa-free entry arrangement for Nigerians.
The Federal Government said the move aligns with efforts to promote pan-African unity, ease of movement and stronger economic and diplomatic ties across the continent.
Tinubu had earlier indicated Nigeria’s readiness to adopt reciprocal travel policies that encourage integration and collaboration among African nations.
