Nigeria’s under-17 women’s football team, the Flamingos, defeated Guinea 5-0 in their U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifier in Abidjan on Saturday.
The match was played at the Stade Félix Houphouet-Boigny.
The Nigerian side dominated throughout, with captain Harmony Chidi delivering a standout captain’s performance.
Chidi scored immediately from kickoff, giving the Flamingos a dream start and early lead.
The forward scored again in the 13th minute with a superb long-range strike against Guinea.

The Flamingos maintained pressure, and Robo Queens striker Oluwakemi Adegbuyi scored the third in the 37th minute.

Three minutes later, Chidi completed her hat-trick with a calm finish, capping a brilliant first-half display.
Nigeria kept the tempo after halftime, and Mary Dunstan sealed victory in the 56th minute.
The result gives the Flamingos a strong advantage before next Saturday’s return leg in Ikenne-Remo, nearing Morocco 2026 qualification.
