Nigerian Breweries unveils digital learning centre in Abuja school

Nigerian Breweries Plc has inaugurated a digital learning centre at Wisdom International School of Excellence in Sauka, Lugbe, Abuja, to expand students’ access to technology-enabled education.

The facility was established through the Nigerian Breweries-Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund in honour of Serah Yusuf, winner of the 2025 Maltina Teacher of the Year Competition.

Equipped with computers, internet connectivity, a smart screen, computer-based testing facilities and digital learning and assessment tools, the centre also features a 10KVA solar-powered inverter system.

The project is part of efforts to extend the impact of the Maltina Teacher of the Year initiative beyond recognising outstanding educators to providing lasting benefits for their schools and communities.

Speaking at the inauguration, Nigerian Breweries’ Head of Public, External and Government Affairs, Chukwuemeka Aniukwu, said the investment was intended to create more opportunities for students to benefit from digital education.

“Through this project, we are extending the impact of the Maltina Teacher of the Year award beyond recognising outstanding teachers. We want to ensure that their achievements translate into lasting benefits for their schools and communities,” Aniukwu said.

He added that investing in digital learning would help students access technology-enabled educational resources.

Deputy Director of Education at the Federal Ministry of Education, Iyabode Alli, commended the Trust Fund for its contribution to education development.

Alli highlighted the importance of digital learning infrastructure and partnerships between the public and private sectors in improving teaching and learning outcomes.

Similarly, the Head of Academics at WISE Schools, Adesuwa Ogwu, expressed appreciation for the investment, saying the centre would strengthen the school’s capacity to deliver digital education.

The inauguration was attended by representatives of the Federal Ministry of Education, the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Union Bank of Nigeria Plc, Nigerian Breweries and the school community.

Union Bank was identified as a partner in the initiative.

The Maltina Teacher of the Year Competition recognises outstanding teachers, while the accompanying school projects seek to extend the benefits of their achievements to students and the wider school community.
