NiMet forecasts 3-day dust haze, sunshine nationwide

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted dust haze and sunshine across the country from Monday to Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

NiMet made this known via its weather outlook released on Sunday, March 29.

The agency predicted moderate dust haze in parts of Kebbi and Kano States on Monday, with horizontal visibility ranging between two to five kilometres.

It said other northern states would experience sunny and hazy skies.

“For the central region, moderate dust haze is forecast over parts of the Federal Capital Territory and Niger State. The remaining states in the zone are expected to remain sunny and hazy throughout the period,” the agency stated.

In the southern region, NiMet predicted sunny skies with occasional cloud patches, with afternoon and evening thunderstorms accompanied by light rains in Bayelsa, Lagos, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom States.

On Tuesday, NiMet forecast slight dust haze in parts of Kano and Kebbi States, while other northern states will continue under sunny and hazy skies.

It said: “The central region will experience sunny and hazy conditions, with isolated thundery activity in parts of Plateau State during afternoon and evening hours.

“Southern states will see sunny skies with cloud patches, along with afternoon and evening thunderstorms in Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Bayelsa, Rivers, Lagos, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom States.”
