The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has announced that most parts of the country will experience a mix of haze and sunshine from Wednesday to Friday.
In its weather outlook released on Tuesday in Abuja, NiMet said the northern region will largely witness sunny and hazy conditions throughout the three-day forecast period.
The agency added that the southern region will experience sunny weather with patches of clouds, while isolated thunderstorms with light rainfall may occur later in the day in parts of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states.
For Thursday, NiMet said the North and central parts of the country will continue to experience sunny and hazy skies, while the South will remain partly cloudy. Thunderstorms with light rains are expected in some areas, including Ogun, Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom in the morning, with more storms likely later over Ondo, Imo, Delta and other nearby states.
By Friday, the agency predicted dust haze over parts of the North by afternoon and evening, following hazy morning conditions.
The central region is also expected to remain hazy, while the South will be cloudy with intervals of sunshine and possible isolated thunderstorms in states such as Anambra, Imo, Abia, Delta and Rivers.
NiMet warned that dust particles are currently suspended in the atmosphere, advising people with asthma and other respiratory challenges to take precautions.
It also urged motorists to drive carefully in rainy conditions and encouraged airline operators to obtain updated weather reports for safe planning.
The agency further advised residents across the country to keep following regular weather updates from NiMet.
