The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted a mix of sunshine and cloudy conditions across the country from Monday to Wednesday, with chances of isolated thunderstorms and light rainfall in parts of the South.
In its weather outlook released on Sunday in Abuja, the agency said the northern region would experience mostly sunny and cloudy skies throughout the three-day period.
NiMet noted that similar conditions are expected over the central states, with sunny and hazy weather dominating much of the forecast window.
For the southern region, the agency projected sunny skies with patches of clouds, alongside the likelihood of isolated thunderstorms accompanied by light rain, particularly over parts of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states later in the day on Monday.
On Tuesday, NiMet said sunny and hazy conditions would persist over the northern and central regions, while the South would see sunny intervals with cloud cover.
The agency added that thunderstorms with light rain are likely in the morning over parts of Ogun, Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states. Later in the day, thunderstorms are expected over Ondo, Ogun, Imo, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Bayelsa states.
By Wednesday, sunny and hazy skies are forecast for the northern region in the morning, with dust haze anticipated later in the day. The central region is also expected to remain sunny and hazy.
Cloudy conditions with sunny intervals are predicted for the southern states, with possible isolated thunderstorms and light rain over parts of Anambra, Imo, Abia, Edo, Bayelsa, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Rivers.
NiMet warned that dust particles remain suspended over the North-Central region and advised residents, particularly those with asthma and other respiratory conditions, to take necessary precautions.
The agency also urged motorists to drive carefully during rainfall and advised airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports for effective flight planning.
Residents were encouraged to stay updated through regular weather forecasts issued by NiMet.
