Nine dead after truck rams commercial vehicle in Gombe

At least nine people have been confirmed dead following a fatal road accident along Yola Road in Kaltungo Local Government Area of Gombe State.

The crash occurred on December 22 at about 7:00 a.m. near Kaluwa Village and involved a DAF truck and a Sharon commercial vehicle, both travelling in the same direction.

According to sources, the DAF truck, with registration number BLG 551 XA and driven by 41-year-old Umar Abubakar from Potiskum, Yobe State, rammed into the Sharon vehicle, registration number GME 19 XC, which was driven by Garba Sule, aged 60.

The impact caused the truck driver to lose control, leading to the vehicle somersaulting and veering off the road.

The injured were immediately taken to the General Hospital in Kaltungo, where nine unidentified victims were confirmed dead on arrival.

Two other persons were reportedly trapped inside the DAF truck as rescue efforts continued at the scene.
