The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has dismissed a notice of a nationwide strike allegedly scheduled for Monday, December 18, 2023.
There was a statement purportedly signed by the General Secretary of NLC and the Secretary General of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Emmanuel Ugboaja and Nuhu Toro, respectively, that a nationwide strike would commence on Monday.
However, the NLC Head of Information and Public Affairs, Benson Upah, in a statement on Sunday, said the viral statement “is a fake news and there is no notice of strike from us”.

“We want to re-assure Nigerians that this notice did not emanate from us, and neither do we have any intention of initiating any strike action this period,” Upah added.
He, therefore, urged Nigerians to ignore the notice and considered it as fake.
