Police operatives have arrested Aloy Ejimakor, counsel to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, during a protest in Abuja.

Ejimakor announced his arrest via a post on his X account on Monday, October 20, 2025.

The lawyer disclosed that he and several others were apprehended during a protest to call for Kanu’s release in Abuja.

“We’ve just been arrested. Myself, Prince Emanuel and others. We are at FCT COMMAND CID. Myself, Fine Boy and others. No 1 Zaria Steeet, Gariki 2, Abuja,” he wrote.

Ejimakor had earlier accused the police of firing teargas to disperse demonstrators who had gathered in the nation’s capital.

The protesters converged on Abuja on Monday to demand the release of Kanu, who has been held by the Department of State Services (DSS) since June 2021.

Kanu’s supporters, therefore, embarked on a protest on Monday, calling on the federal government to comply with existing court rulings that ordered his release.
