The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has announced the closure of the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC).
The NNPC Limited said the refinery will undergo a planned maintenance shutdown.
The Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Limited, Olufemi Soneye, announced this via a statement issued on Saturday, May 24, 2025.
Soneye disclosed that the scheduled maintenance and sustainability assessment will commence today (Saturday).

Soneye stated that the national oil company is working closely with all relevant stakeholders, including the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), to ensure that the maintenance and assessment activities are carried out efficiently and transparently.
He said: “NNPC Limited remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering sustainable energy security for Nigeria.
