The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has given approval for Sa’ad Aminu Sa’ad and Nabil Aliyu Daneji — sons of two late Kano lawmakers — to seek the party’s tickets for the now-vacant State House of Assembly seats in Municipal and Ungogo constituencies.
The decision came after broad consultations led by the party’s National Leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, involving senior party figures and members of the affected families.
Both lawmakers passed away on December 24, 2025, creating vacancies in the Assembly.
Speaking on the development, NNPP State Chairman, Hashim Sulaiman Dungurawa, said the resolution was reached following extensive discussions hosted by Kwankwaso at his residence in Kano.
According to him, party stakeholders spoke openly and agreed on the best way forward.
Kwankwaso explained that the move was intended to honour the contributions of the deceased legislators while upholding fairness and internal democracy within the party.
He stressed that the approval does not automatically guarantee the seats, as the aspirants must still undergo normal party primaries, screening, and other procedures required of all contestants.
Dungurawa expressed confidence that the pair would uphold the principles of service demonstrated by their fathers, and urged party members to support a respectful and transparent process in line with electoral rules.
