US President Donald Trump has confirmed that he will not grant a presidential pardon to music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, despite the rapper’s request for clemency.
Combs, who is serving a four‑year federal prison sentence after being convicted in July of transporting people across state lines for prostitution, wrote to Trump seeking a pardon.
The president told The New York Times that he was not inclined to approve clemency for the hip‑hop star.
Trump also made it clear that he does not plan to pardon several other high‑profile figures, including deposed Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro, who is facing drug‑trafficking charges, as well as disgraced crypto executive Sam Bankman‑Fried and former Democratic Senator Robert Menendez.
When asked whether he would consider pardoning Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer convicted in the murder of George Floyd, Trump said he had not been asked about it.
During his presidency, Trump has issued pardons for more than 1,500 people connected to the January 6, 2021 US Capitol attack and other allies, but he indicated that Combs’ request will not be added to the list.
